“Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome!” Set in Berlin during the rise of Nazi Germany, Cabaret invites audiences into the depths of Berlin’s Kit Kat Klub. The story follows the life of the club’s headlining singer, Sally Bowles, her relationship with a young American writer, and the unfolding of dark events that encompass Berlin. Overseeing the action is the Master of Ceremonies, who serves as a constant metaphor for the tenuous and threatening state of late Weimar Germany.
“Life is a cabaret, old chum…come to the cabaret!”
