Fantasy Theater - Childrens Entertainment Image

Chatham Community Players' Fantasy Theater presents the play filled with holiday music, “The Christmas Bus” by Robert Inman on December 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 7pm and December 12, 13, 19 and 20 at 3 pm at the Chatham Playhouse 23 North Passaic Ave., Chatham. Tickets are $15 for Adults (18 and older) and $10 for Youth (17 and under). Lynn Polan from Chatham directs this fun-filled holiday play appropriate for children of all ages!

It's Christmas Eve, and Mrs. Frump, the bumbling but dedicated director of the Peaceful Valley Orphanage, has a Christmas surprise for her orphans: she wants her kids to experience the holiday with a real family – and no one will stop her! Not the law-abiding Sheriff Snodgrass, not the gossipy busybodies of the Board of Trustees, not even a broken down old school bus that’s seen better days. Add a hitchhiking troubadour with a few dreams of his own to the boisterous orphans on the bus and you have a rollicking and touching holiday adventure for the whole family. Polan added, “The Christmas Bus is a funny and heartwarming holiday play about the true meaning of family. It has something for everyone: love, laughter, Christmas spirit, and a little music. It will appeal to kids from one to ninety-two.”

The cast includes Lily Bauer of Chatham as Clara, Debbie Bernstein of Maplewood as Mrs Frump, Julie Anne Nolan of Little Falls as Darlene, Liam Driscoll of Chatham as Thomas, Molly Farrell of Chatham as Frankie, Annie Farrell of Chatham as Jenny, Howard Fischer of Berkeley Heights as Sheriff Snodgrass, Colleen Grundfest of Warren Twp as Myrtle, Logan Guvenel of Chatham as Eugene, Julia Hearne of Chatham as Daisy, Liz Royce of Cedar Grove as Hortense, Lianne Schoenwiesner of Montclair as Ethel, George Skinner of New Providence as Casey, Orin Tempkin of Springfield as Editor, Bradley Carrington of Summit as Troubadour. The director, Lynn Polan, is pleased to return to Chatham Community Players after making her CCP directorial debut with one of the one-acts in this past summer’s Jersey Voices. She recently retired from teaching theatre at Chatham High School, where she directed numerous shows including Anything Goes, Legally Blonde, The Drowsy Chaperone, The Servant of Two Masters, Metamorphoses, Radium Girls, and Our Town.
