The Chatham Community Players is excited to share the first production of the new Summer Youth Theatre, Gilbert and Sullivan's “The Pirates of Penzance,” on Friday, August 12 and Saturday, August 13 at 7pm at the Chatham Playhouse, 23 North Passaic Ave. in Chatham, NJ. Susan Speidel of Springfield directs and also oversees this new program as part of Chatham Players' growing education initiatives. The Summer Youth Theatre gives young performers, ages 10 to 22, the opportunity to gain performance and interpersonal skills as they work with their peers in workshops, rehearsals, and performance.

Set sail with this classic work that boasts one of the most famous patter songs in musical theatre history. The wit and whimsy of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic score is given a modern twist in this version, adapted from the original specifically for the students in the Chatham Players Summer Youth Theatre.

The cast features Matt Cutler of Bedminster, Derek Ebner of Bridgewater, Josiah Irwin of Basking Ridge, Finley Olson-Sawyer of Bridgewater, Casey Wellins of Clifton, Ishra Bhandari of Short Hills, and Marin Wilson of Chatham.  Production/Performance Interns include Jaydalin Reyes of Berkeley Heights, Robert Brecht of Morristown, Brian Gutierrez of Springfield, Giovanna DiSanto of Greenbrook, and McKenna Burns of Chatham.

We are excited to welcome audiences into the Chatham Playhouse for this special production. You can help the show go on!  A COVID exposure means that our show could potentially lose a performance or be shut down. Proof of vaccination is not required, but we strongly encourage all patrons to be vaccinated and wear a mask while inside the theater. We ask if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, you stay home.
