Enchanted April

2004-2005 SEASON

-

...a lushly romantic play by Kane Campbell adapted from the novel by Elizabeth Von Arnim.

Synopsis

The story transports us back to 1920's London where Lotty and Rose, two middle class housewives, seek to break out of their gloomy existence by renting a castle on the banks of the Mediterranean for the month of April. They are joined by Lady Caroline Dester, a wealthy but bored young socialite, and Mrs. William Fisher, a terse, elderly widow who only wishes "to sit in the sun and remember." The arrival of Rose and Lotty's husbands as well as the castle's handsome young landlord, Mr. Briggs, leads the four women toward an enchanting reawakening of their affections — all set against a lush backdrop of wisteria and sunshine.

About the Director

Michael T. Mooney of Budd Lake directs the play. A director of more than 50 North Jersey stage productions, this is Mooney's second production of the play, having staged it for Chester Theatre Group in 1997.

"I'm thrilled to be directing this beautiful play once more," said Mooney. " It is the only play in my more than 50 stage productions that I have done twice — or even would care to consider doing again!"
